Research projects:
1) Data-Driven Hot Rolling Optimisation. (2018-2019) My role: Researcher. Collaborative research project including Australian Steel Company (Liberty OneSteel Operations) and the University of South Australia. Industrial process instabilities were analysed to diagnose the causes and propose solutions. Proposed design was validated in full scale production.

2) Redesign of the roll passes to improve the rolling process. (2017-2019) My role: Associate Supervisor. The resulting MSc thesis (to be submitted in September 2019 at the University of South Australia) will address novel mathematical model for application of Big Data analytics to modelling morphometry of manufacturing tools.

3) Parametrised hybrid modelling for optimal roll pass design in hot rolling of round profiles. (2011-2013) My role of Associate Supervisor in this PhD thesis (awarded at the University of South Australia) was evaluated as pivotal in both proposing and supervising this research. Genetic modelling was used to propose design for manufacturing wire rod.

4) A knowledge based hybrid model for improving manufacturing system in rolling mills. (2010-2011) My role: Researcher. Project successfully accomplished at the University of South Australia addressed novel concept of hybrid design of tools for industrial rolling systems.

5) Brain Gain Project. (2006) Visiting Academic. World University Service – Austria, 2006. This included visiting the University of Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and presenting seminars in maintenance management and operations research to students, academics and industrial audiences. During this tour I participated in organisation of two international conferences, presented four research papers and made a presentation at the VSB Technical University Ostrava EU.

6) Study of the rolling sliding contact. (2002) Principal Investigator. This research project was financed by the King Abdulaziz City for Science & Technology (Saudi Arabia). A novel model of rolling-sliding distance was used to develop improved criteria for wear of solids in rolling-sliding contact.

7) Design of industrial processes and tools using physical modeling and computer simulations (1990-1993). Investigator. The project, conducted at the BHP Melbourne Laboratories and Long Products Division Whyalla, used physical laboratory rolling to successfully design semi-industrial rolling of the wide range of hot steel products. All proposed designs are validated by subsequent industrial rolling.

Interesting Projects and Accomplishments
