We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The weekly reportings are great. The investigation is super and the application management is equally great.""Cisco Umbrella is a totally different solution. They are the first to come up with this idea of security. It's a totally new concept of security for everybody, for every time, real time, perfectionism.""Its simplicity is most valuable. I can install it and get it up and running, and it can be pervasive across my business within a business day. It is pretty simple and straightforward to install and configure. Its remit is reasonably clearly defined. When you look at solutions like Darktrace and Carbon Black, the mission objective isn't as clearly defined. Cisco Umbrella, Sophos Central, or some of the other solutions have a more standardized approach to antivirus, which includes enhanced response from the machine learning or deep learning perspective.""We've found it to be stable and good for our customers.""The implementation is pretty easy.""I think recently with many people working from home, Cisco Umbrella has been very useful. For example, we can manage the device and the network when the employee is not working on the local host. Cisco Umbrella is very valuable for this kind of infrastructure.""The most valuable feature for us is the DNS-based protection.""Cisco Umbrella is such a solution and can be implemented very fast and easy. All that we must do is redirect the DNS registers in their routers, or the active directory service of the enterprise that are going to use in Umbrella services. If you buy the service now, in two hours you are protected by the service because it's very fast to put in service."

"Our organization finds the application routing features extremely useful.""The flexibility is a great feature.""It is very easy to deploy. The GUI interface is really good, and the security features are also very good. It is also stable and scalable, and their support is also good.""The most valuable aspects of the solution are the next-generation firewall features and geo-blocking capabilities.""There are great security and ops features without the need for having a different box for security.""The division of Control Plane and Data Plane is most valuable. It can be deployed anywhere, and you can control it and configure it from anywhere. This is one of the good features of this solution.""Overall, it's nice and very user friendly. That's what makes it so successful. They give you complicated features but with a very simple user interface, and that's been a big success for them.""The solution is stable and suitable."

"VMware has been chosen by many of our customers who do not want to do a lot of complex routing in their environment and want a very easy-to-use solution. The most valuable features are simple troubleshooting, Dynamic Multipath Optimization (DMPO), and cybersecurity.""Has an optimization feature that acts to ensure the quality of the services running on the overlay to be most valuable.""The cloud gateway is a very good feature for scaling purposes, etc.""The most valuable feature is the Dynamic Multipath Optimization (DMPO), which allows the customer to maintain and monitor their link quality in real-time.""The most valuable feature is the dynamic multipath optimization.""The most valuable feature of this solution is manageability.""It is fairly similar to other solutions. It has the capability for testing link connectivity, which is its unique feature from a control perspective.""The biggest feature is called D.M.P.O., or Dynamic Multipath Optimization, which is one of the technologies that they use to deliver or ensure data integrity."

Cons
"In the future, they should combine some of the Cisco AMP features that they already have, for anti-malware purposes.""In the next release, I would like to see the integration of VDI NSX with Cisco Umbrella.""Missing a real data leakage prevention solution.""This solution does not give us full, 360-degree protection.""Actually, we recently switched over to Zscaler because it has more features and it's more scalable than Cisco Umbrella.""The product can be pretty expensive.""It could be improved by having a local data center and caching, which can provide protection support. I would like to be able to channel my intel and my network traffic to their clouds, and this feature is not available. Advanced protection or any malware file support, which might be required, is not available.""One of the issues with Umbrella is as you get into endpoint detection and response, such as EDR point solutions, some of them will not integrate well with Umbrella. Sometimes when you want to use technology, such as Always On VPN, it will not work. There are some looming issues as one type of technology starts to crossover with Umbrella. That is the challenge and Umbrella should find a way to be more compatible with some of the endpoint response solutions that are coming out on the market."

More Cisco Umbrella Cons »

"With the pandemic and changing work models, it would be ideal if the product more accessibility options or more diversity within the solution itself.""I heard about them for the first time just before I started working on Versa. They do have blogs for information, but they could publicize more about the documentation and architecture. It doesn't seem to have that much exposure, and they should work on their customer base more.""We are thinking about how to make customers consolidate the loads to an SD-WAN network so that the customers can have bigger chunk from the SD-WAN side so that customers can have critical data be transferred with NPS VPN and non-critical data or some labeled traffic can be transferred by the SD-WAN network. I think it's a very important direction for digital transformation.""The support needs to be improved.""Future releases should contain AI for the voice feature.""SASE is the next big thing that is coming up, and it needs to be developed in Versa. This is the only thing that needs to be adapted very quickly by Versa. With the pandemic going on, I would like to see more features for working from home. They have launched Versa Secure Access (VSA), but it is currently immature. They need to tighten it up for work from home and SD-WAN concept.""The UTM features can be improved. It should offer better functionality.""The smaller units lack a lot of functionality."

More Versa FlexVNF Cons »

"They should provide us with the flexibility to scale up.""Reporting is an area that can be improved, as there are some features that are lacking with the reporting aspect.""The solution doesn't offer failover between their own devices. If I want to, I should be able to put the two devices at the side, so there can be a failover.""There are a number of customers we have that require a fully mashed SD-WAN on VeloCloud that is not available currently.""They need more gateways""I would like for them to upgrade to 5G integration. Our customers have 4G now and the connectivity isn't good. It should be much faster.""Reports could be simplified.""VeloCloud needs improvement in terms of its security features."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The licensing fee is paid on a yearly basis.""The licensing part for Umbrella is really flexible.""The price of Cisco Umbrella is a little higher than similar solutions, like Gateway.""I think it's worth the money.""The price is quite good.""The price could be lower.""It has a reasonable price. It is certainly not as expensive as it used to be. It is in line with other offerings on the market. There are a number of different flavors of Umbrella. They could bring Umbrella SIG down a bit because its price is a little bit high for what it does, but I also understand why its price is high.""The price should be slightly lower than the current price because if you look at the whole solution, it is simply a threat intelligence solution to block blacklisted things. The price should be lower looking at the features provided by the solution. The price isn't too high either, but it could be lower."

More Cisco Umbrella Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It is not very expensive because of the white box support. Its hardware is much cheaper than other products. With the support for x86 and white box, it is one of the most cost-effective platforms that are currently available.""The price is expensive but it makes sense for the market.""We provide subscriptions for our customers on a yearly, not monthly, basis.""While I cannot provide too much commentary on the price, I feel it to be fair for the moment."

More Versa FlexVNF Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The price of this solution is higher than that of other SD-WAN vendors.""The cost of VMware SD-WAN is high, but I think you can still get better pricing if your volume is high.""My understanding is that the pricing is in the same range as other solutions.""The price of this solution should be lower.""The price is reasonable for this solution, but the only challenge for us is that the Rand currency fluctuates to the dollar and provides some complexities. The price might go up just because the Rand has actually lost value.""The price of the solution could be reduced.""You need to pay for a license to use this product.""VeloCloud performs as well as the Cisco SD-WAN but it is cheaper in price."

Versa FlexVNF is a multi-service, multi-tenant software platform built from ground up on cloud principles to deliver scale, segmentation, programmability and automation. It provides both networking and security functions in a single software along with service chaining capabilities.

Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) is the application of softwarebased network technologies that virtualize WAN connections to provide agility,
performance and reliability for network traffic between remote and branch offices to
data centers and the cloud.

SD-WAN leverages cloud-hosting to simplify deployment and management of
network devices and employs traffic steering to applications in the data center and
the cloud. It combines the bandwidth of broadband with existing WAN connections to
more efficiently and cost-effectively connect users to data center and cloud-based
applications from any location in the network.

SD-WAN optimizes traffic over multiple available connections (MPLS, broadband,
LTE) to deliver traffic across the network, delivering a better user experience to any
location. SD-WAN will dynamically steer traffic to the best available link, and if the
available links show any transmission issues, it will immediately apply remediation for
jitter and packet loss based on policies to ensure performance of the high-priority
applications.
