Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly.""The Adversity Malware Protection (AMP) feature is the most valuable. It is also very easy to use. Every technical user can operate this solution without any difficulty. The dashboard of Cisco Firepower has every tool that a security operator needs. You can find every resource that you need to operate through this dashboard.""Its Snort 3 IPS has better flexibility as far as being able to write rules. This gives me better granularity.""We have not had to deal with stability issues.""There are no issues that we are aware of. It does its job silently in the background.""I like the firewall features, Snort, and the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS).""The most valuable feature that Cisco Firepower NGFW provides for us is the Intrusion policy.""The implementation is pretty straightforward."

"Deep packet inspection and intelligent application control are the most valuable features. It is a very updated solution. It is very current as compared to other brands and vendors.""SonicWall has USCS and anti-virus at the gateway level. Everything is filtered, and if it detects an intruder, it drops the line.""It is able to fulfill my requirements. It protects our network environment. It has control over IPS, signatures, and it can also manage bandwidth and mapping. It is also stable and has good support.""Setup is easy. Anyone with basic firewall experience can do it.""It's very simple to use and the support is great.""This product has kept us safe and we haven't had any breaches.""The most valuable features are the VPN, SSL VPN, and IPSec VPN.""They offer good antivirus solutions."

Cons
"Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall can be more secure.""On the VPN side, Firepower could be better. It needs more monitoring on VPNs. Right now, it's not that good. You can set up a VPN in Firepower, but you can't monitor it.""The configuration in Firepower Management Center is very slow. Deployment takes two to three minutes. You spend a lot of time on modifications. Whereas, in FortiGate, you press a button, and it takes one second.""The product line does not address the SMB market as it is supposed to do. Cisco already has an on-premises sandbox solution.""One of the few things that are brought up is that for the overall management, it would be great to have a cloud instance of that. And not only just a cloud instance, but one of the areas that we've looked at is using an HA type of cloud. To have the ability to have a device file within a cloud. If we had an issue with one, the other one would pick up automatically.""It would be great if some of the load times were faster.""Cisco makes horrible UIs, so the interface is something that should be improved.""The intelligence has room for improvement. There are some hackers that we haven't seen before and its ability to detect those types of attacks needs to be improved."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"Initially, it may be difficult for some people to learn and become acquainted with it.""The reporting and monitoring are a bit complex and should be easier in SonicWall NSa because other firewalls I have experienced have been more simple, such as Palo Alto. We are able to receive a clear view of our network. As a general user with little experience, it would be difficult for them to handle.""I would like to have a built-in vulnerability scanner in the firewall. It would be great to have such functionality. Its price could also be better. It would also be good to have a local warehouse. It doesn't get damaged a lot, but if a customer needs a replacement, currently, it has to come from Miami or Mexico, which can take a few days. It would be better if they have a local warehouse from where we can just pick replacements and quickly solve a client's needs in terms of replacing equipment. It would be great to have it locally instead of waiting for it from Mexico or the USA.""You can do zero-trust networking with them, but it's not easy.""It only has a single power interface, which has limitations in terms of high availability.""The ongoing service fees are high.""We also need to increase the throughput because the other devices are slower. The throughput will become slow. Since we're using VoIP, it tends to affect the voice quality. Even if you're using a quality service, it tends to decrease.""The product has a lot of bugs, actually. We are facing some issues with this product. The DPI SSL feature which is there, it is not working properly."

More SonicWall NSa Cons →

"Although manageable, the user interface is a little bit slow and could be improved.""Sometimes it reboots when you least expect it, and that's the main issue."
