Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"If you compare the ASA and the FirePOWER, the best feature with FirePOWER is easy to use GUI. It has most of the same functionality in the Next-Generation FirePOWER, such as IPS, IPS policies, security intelligence, and integration and identification of all the devices or hardware you have in your network. Additionally, this solution is user-friendly.""Provides good integrations and reporting.""It's got the capabilities of amassing a lot of throughput with remote access and VPNs.""We get the Security Intelligence Feeds refreshed every hour from Talos, which from my understanding is that they're the largest intelligence Security Intelligence Group outside of the government.""If configured, Firepower provides us with application visibility and control.""We have not had to deal with stability issues.""The feature set is fine and is rarely a problem.""Web filtering is a big improvement for us. The previous version we used, the AC520, did not have that feature included. It was not very easy for us, especially because the environment had to be isolated and we needed to get updates from outside, such as Windows patches. That feature has really helped us when we are going outside to pull those patches."

"It is a brilliant product. It is a Unified Threat Management (UTM) system. It has got about 11 security services that take care of your perimeter security. It takes care of any kind of cyber threats that could come in. It takes care of creating VPNs between two SonicWalls instantly and very easily. It has got spyware in it as well as a firewall. It has also got a gateway antivirus and an application firewall that can block things from outside.""One of the main features is the built-in storage capacity.""The most valuable features of this solution are intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, and the advanced capture client, which provides live traffic analysis.""Support has improved dramatically since their separation from Dell.""SonicWall NSA is easy to deploy, easy to maintain, and easy to configure.""The solution has many useful features, such as content management, user management, user filtering, and domain controller connectivity mapping.""It's very flexible and meets our customer's needs.""This product has kept us safe and we haven't had any breaches."

"The initial setup is very straightforward and the solution is extremely user-friendly.""I have found the feature allowing you to manage everything from a centralized location beneficial.""So far, I'm happy that they have recently added a firewall role, so I feel a little more comfortable with the security. The threat management is good.""The most valuable feature of this solution is flexibility.""Sophos XG protects our network from advanced threats.""The most valuable feature I have found to be the reporting function.""Great reporting feature and great customer support.""The product has a console that is based in the cloud for all their products. In this console, they have email security, firewall security, endpoint security, et cetera. All of the products on offer in the console are very useful for us."

Cons
"FlexConfig is there as a bridge for features that are not yet natively integrated into Firepower. It is a way of allowing you to be able to configure things that wouldn't otherwise be possible until the development team can add them into Firepower's native capability. There is still some work that needs to be done around FlexConfig. There are still quite a few complex things, like policy-based routing, that have to be done in FlexConfig, and it doesn't always work perfectly. Sometimes, there are some glitches. It is recommended that you configure FlexConfig policies with Cisco TAC. It would be good to see Cisco accelerate some of those configurations that you can only do in FlexConfig into the platform, so that they are there natively.""The Firepower FTD code is missing some old ASA firewalls codes. It's a small thing. But Firepower software isn't missing things that are essential, anymore.""I would like it to have faster deployment times. A typical deployment could take two to three minutes. Sometimes, it depends on the situation. It is better than it was in the past, but it could always use improvement.""My team tells me that other solutions such as Fortinet and Palo Alto are easier to implement.""The change-deployment time can always be improved. Even at 50 seconds, it's longer than some of its competitors. I would challenge Cisco to continue to improve in that area.""One of the few things that are brought up is that for the overall management, it would be great to have a cloud instance of that. And not only just a cloud instance, but one of the areas that we've looked at is using an HA type of cloud. To have the ability to have a device file within a cloud. If we had an issue with one, the other one would pick up automatically.""An area of improvement for this solution is the console visualization.""I believe that the current feature set of the device is very good and the only thing that Cisco should work on is improving the user experience with the device."

More Cisco Firepower NGFW Firewall Cons →

"The ongoing service fees are high.""Initially, it may be difficult for some people to learn and become acquainted with it.""In terms of improvement, features like App Control do not work properly""Sometimes I found the GUI and some of the features a little bit hard to navigate, as opposed to Fortigate, which is much more user-friendly.""The reporting feature could be better because most of the companies want to have the analytics included, which is something that you have to buy separately.""The product has a lot of bugs, actually. We are facing some issues with this product. The DPI SSL feature which is there, it is not working properly.""SonicWall does not support DynDNS, yet this is an important feature for smaller companies that do not have a static IP address.""I'd like to see integration with Microsoft 365 for authentication."

More SonicWall NSa Cons →

"The UI needs improvement because it can be a little weird at times.""The installation could be faster and is longer than that of other solutions, lasting more than a month instead of five minutes.""There is an area that is very specific to our setup, where working tools you cannot easily establish a VPN between two internal networks.""Scalability could be improved. It could be better.""They need to do more quality checks before they release firmware upgrades. Currently, a few Cyberoam firewall customers are facing some issues while upgrading the Cyberoam firmware to Sophos. After the new firmware is installed, they are seeing some performance issues, which require some bug fixes. The performance is fine after getting the required support. Customers who are already using Sophos hardware are quite satisfied with this solution. Their support should also be improved. We are facing difficulties getting support on time through email or phone.""I would prefer if Sophos XG were cheaper. A lower price would benefit me as a system provider for the end customer. The cost of the license and renewal for all the software and devices is somewhat high.""I would like to have more artificial intelligence in the web monitoring service that comes with it. It should alert us when particular events happen. It has already got some of that. I know that it is more of a service, and Sophos is already looking at it. It is called SIEM.""The VPN features can be improved. Due to covid-19, we have a lot of employees that work from home and we need better VPN capabilities."
