We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"We have the business activity monitoring, the map, and the MBI modules and they are all very good.""The customizable reports and dashboards are really flexible. We started this partnership with Centreon, when we were looking for a solution, because of the flexibility of the reporting. That's what we found to be most attractive in the solution. You can display the data as you want.""The single-pane view provides us a view of all of our network infrastructure, and it is one of the most important tools that we use to see the status of our customers' networks.""The dashboards are valuable because they ease troubleshooting and viewing. It becomes easier to locate the source of a problem... The dashboards make it easier to communicate with our clients. They don't want to see the alert console, they want to see a beautiful dashboard representing their network and their business and to watch it in case something is wrong in their environment.""Centreon helps me detect where the problem is quickly. When we resolve a problem quickly, this lowers our overall costs.""You can concentrate and orchestrate several other solutions from other vendors. You can consolidate those solutions all in one place, then maintain and monitor from that single point. This creates ease of use. It is a very powerful solution from this point of view."

"The solution’s overall reporting capabilities are pretty powerful compared to ones that I have used previously. It seems like it has a lot of customizations that you can put in, but some of the out-of-the-box reports are useful too, like user logon duration and website latency. Those type of things have been helpful and don't require a lot of, if any, changes to get useful content out of them. They have also been pretty easy to implement and use.""One of the things that I really like about the LogicMonitor solution is that it has a whole bunch of things, data points, that it can monitor. They're called DataSources, and it has an amazing amount of devices it can monitor that are pre-built into the system You can customize them if you need to. You can change the thresholds and a whole bunch of different things with them. You can even create brand new ones if you need to, if the built-in data sources don't satisfy your requirements for the technology that you want to monitor.""It's the depth of data that it gathers that I find really useful because there's nothing worse, when you're trying to find information about something or dig deeper into something, than hitting the bottom of the information really quickly and not having enough information to work with. With LogicMonitor, there is a load of information to dig through. It's a really good solution for that.""The solution also has a variety of dashboards... They actually have a repository of a whole bunch of different ones, which is really nice... what's really cool is that you can grant somebody access to a dashboard without giving them full access to the rest of the system. You can provide a really nice, high-level dashboard to your executive team, so they can see what is, red, green, or yellow, without having to really get into the nitty-gritty of the technology...""We explored a couple of other products as well. None of the other products had a customer engagement team like LogicMonitor does.""The alerting and the customized alerting are the most valuable features. We can set thresholds at multiple levels to alert us to issues that might start happening before they happen.""It has improved our organization with its capacity planning. We have a performance environment that we use to benchmark our applications. We use it to say, "Okay, at a certain level of concurrency, we know where our application will fall over." Therefore, we are using LogicMonitor dashboards to tell us that we're good. Our platform can handle X number of clients concurrently hitting us at a time.""Our installed base is in more than 70 locations around the globe... The fact that we don't need to manage and control 80 different servers just to monitor all of our infrastructure is a big difference. Now we have only one. The time savings are huge."

"We haven't had any complaints about the stability of the solution or heard of any issues. None of our clients have mentioned running into bugs or glitches. There haven't been crashes."

Cons
"Currently, we have to go through all of the different templates and take a look at how the template is configured, and how specific parameters may change across different templates with different precedents, megatons, etc. It's a lot of work and involves trial and error. I wish they could simplify the process.""Improvements are needed in the area of cloud monitoring, as that's a newer feature.""Centreon is actually missing an easy way to create a trendline for the metrics. Actually it is possible to create it, but you need a good knowledge of math, Centreon, and RRD.""Opening a ticket on the website of Centreon can be difficult for my colleague, but not for me because my English is good. However, my colleague doesn't speak English well, as our company is in Quebec and our first language is French.""I would like to see more plugins. That is something it needs. There is also room for improvement through dynamic thresholds, or self-discover thresholds. I would also like to see a discovery feature that could map the whole network environment and automatically suggest things.""During the initial setup we faced some issues. Part of it was because we had to become more knowledgeable in the solution. There are some gray areas and if you don't know the product well you may have issues. Another part of it was some bugs that we came across, although that's part of every software solution in IT nowadays. But the initial setup could be easier."

"The reporting capabilities are okay but they are not perfect. There are some drawbacks in terms of differences between the information that can be found in the portal when compared to the reports themselves. We can see some of the information on the portal by clicking and navigating the menus, but if we want that same information within the reports it can be tricky, depending on the specific information we're talking about... the biggest disappointment is that reports haven't been developed in the last couple of years at all.""The only functional area I can think of that has room for improvement would be the dashboards. They could use a refresh. It would be nice if there were more widgets and more types of widgets.""It monitors most devices out-of-the-box, but not all. There is still improvement to be had in the devices that it monitors. It doesn't monitor some storage devices that we use, which is quite frustrating. It wasn't able to monitor Dell EMC Compellent Storage.""Reporting is definitely a weak area in LogicMonitor. There's just not as much flexibility as there is in other areas of the product. Some of this can be overcome by using the REST API, but more of it should be out-of-the-box.""The process of upgrading some of the collectors has been a little bit confusing. I need to understand that better.""The ease of use with data source tuning could be improved. That can get hairy quickly. When I reach out for help, it's usually around a data source or event source configuration. That can get challenging.""With the email alerts that we get, it would be nice if the subject line were a little bit smaller, and if it showed the system that is out as the first thing. Sometimes you have to open the email to see what that is.""The dashboards can be improved. They are good, but there is a pain point. To show things to management, to explain pain points to other customers, to show them exactly where we can do better, the dashboarding could be better. Dashboards need to show the key things. Nobody is going to go into the ample details of Excel sheets or HTML."

"The solution is very much viewer centric and it would be nice if it would transcend just the virtual infrastructure."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Their licensing model is really easy. You have one license and you have access to all the features, compared to other tools where you have to purchase add-ons.""If you need basic monitoring without dashboards, just monitoring, the plugins are very useful and really cheap. If you want a more complete solution with dashboards and reporting, the EMS solution is great and it is not that much more expensive. It's a good value. Really good.""Centreon is better than Nagios XI in regards to cost and support response times, when you have a problem. If you have a problem, it costs money to contact the Nagios XI support.""The pricing works out well for us, given our environment and where we are.""Centreon is always available to develop new plugins when needed. The most important thing is that their maintenance account yearly subscription fee includes the fact that they will maintain the new plugins that you requested them to deliver."

More Centreon Pricing and Cost Advice »

"It's affordable. The price we get per license is a lot cheaper than what we were getting with some of the other tools. There are other monitoring tools out there that are cheaper, but what you get with LogicMonitor, out-of-the-box, makes it worth the cost.""I know we are saving at least several hundred thousand dollars in that we're not buying Cisco Prime.""LogicMonitor is competitively priced at the same level as other vendors, like Datadog.""The licensing side of things with LogicMonitor, is quite simple. It is one license per device. Recently, you have additional licenses with things, like LM Cloud, which does confuse things a bit. Because it's very hard to estimate how many licenses you're going to need until you're monitoring it, so it's quite hard through that process to give a customer price to say, "This is how much this services will cost."""Pricing seems to be on par with other solutions. For what we get, I think it's a very fair price.""As a managed services provider, the licensing model that LogicMonitor provides us is excellent. We are able to scale up and scale down as needed. The pricing is reasonable for the amount of features and support that they provide.""I am pretty sure that it is a one-off licensing fee with no hidden costs.""We have definitely seen ROI with LogicMonitor. We used to provide 24/7 IT support for our users. We have since been able to change to operating just within normal business hours for IT support, and LogicMonitor was a large part of being able to accomplish that."
