Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the event correlation mechanism.""Some of the most valuable features are it's highly scalable, the carrier is great, and if something has SNMP, it can monitor it. It's a great network fault management solution.""The presentation layer is pretty simple and straightforward.""The containerization of different objects was very helpful in building an org structure. Being able to separately manage your MSP clients with separate visibility was also helpful.""I have found the cross analysis feature to be the most valuable.""Spectrum is great for root cause analysis. It has excellent correlation event management. Spectrum's stability and scalability are also amazing.""The most valuable feature is the auto-discovery, which is nice because you don't have to do anything to add a new component.""The fault management is perfect."

"The initial setup isn't overly complex.""The feature that I have found most valuable with Splunk is the ability to sift through a bunch of data very quickly.""The most valuable feature is the log aggregation, being able to scan through all of the logs.""It has quite extensive support in terms of integration. If you want to do anything, there are tools for that.""The flexibility of the solution is quite good.""The reporting aspect is good and it does what I need it to do.""With good domain knowledge, one can build almost anything. If you throw in Alert Manager or an integration with ServiceNow. Then, you have your own SIEM""It allows us to digest the information, the data, the different data streams, so we can make decisions based upon information that we receive, and it is pretty robust."

Cons
"The interface is not nice and needs to be improved.""For my use case, incident coordination was an area of improvement. The internal software engine for coordinating outages could use improvement because sometimes, we used to get false alerts for unrelated devices. They did a really good job of trying to make sure that you got one major alert and any of the subsequent devices downstream were just additions to that, but occasionally, the engine wouldn't properly catch the right things, and we used to get a flood of alerts.""We want to make our own choice for the AIOps solution and do not want to be forced to use the Broadcom OI solution by default.""I think the management or configuration of devices needs some improvement.""DX Spectrum could be improved by them getting rid of the Java console. It would also be better with Turkish language support.""Its visualization can be improved. It doesn't have a very advanced GUI. It is very basic and simple, but it does work.""If the integration is simplified or improved, it will be a unique selling point in comparison to the competition on the market.""There should be a facility to integrate with other monitoring applications that are currently running in the environment."

More DX Spectrum Cons →

"There is improvement needed when importing from some types of data sources.""This is not really a monitoring solution.""Endpoint access is the only issue I can think to mention, even though the endpoint access we have with Cisco is fine.""The biggest problem is data compression. Splunk is an outstanding product, but it is a resource hog. There should be better data compression for being able to maintain our data repositories. We end up having to buy lots of additional storage just to house our Splunk data. This is my only complaint about it.""You do need a lot of training and certification with this product.""The solution could improve by giving more email details.""We find that the maintenance process could be a lot better.""Splunk is query-based, which is not the case with most cybersecurity tools. It is based on search queries and can be difficult to use. It would be good if they can make it easier to understand how to create search queries. They can improve the knowledge base for better understanding. To create your dashboard, you need to have a search query. We have multiple firewalls in our company, and we need a dashboard for them. It would be helpful if a default firewall dashboard is included in Splunk to make monitoring easier. If a dashboard is available for a security device, the operation part will be more efficient. We won't have to follow a manual process for this."
