We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"Great out-of-the-box capability.""One of the things that I like about DX Infrastructure is that the topology is good enough to see what is happening in the infrastructure. You also get alerts if something is happening in the network. There are many features and benefits. It is serving our customers in knowing exactly how their network is performing in terms of reliability. It also helps them in planning the capacity. They know how much bandwidth the branches are consuming."

"I'd rate technical support at eight out of ten. They are helpful and fast.""Solarwinds has an open database that allows you to do serious integrations. It doesn't matter which service desk you have, you can implement and integrate it with SolarWinds.""This product can monitor application environments no matter where they reside and provides capabilities for deep insight into infrastructure.""The solution is great for monitoring. If something is going wrong, we can immediately find the root cause.""The most valuable feature is the Access Rights Manager.""The most valuable feature is application monitoring.""It's good at monitoring system-specific things like ports, services.""The solution has good alerts. Notifications are sent via email to technicians. You can filter the kinds of alerts you want to receive as well. It's excellent."

Cons
"The company has not kept pace with developments.""The only challenge that I have with this solution is the reporting part. The users are not really comfortable with the kind of reports they are getting. Sometimes, they want to see reports in their own format. Customizing those reports with Jasper is not very easy. It could be because of the knowledge gap. If you have the knowledge of how Jasper can be configured to suit customer requirements in terms of reporting, it is good. There was a time a customer complained about one issue related to Netflow analysis. Broadcom has a separate model for that, but the customer wanted everything bundled together. It could also have IP management so that I am able to see or analyze IPs so that the IPs that are already in use don't get assigned."

"It would be helpful if the solution could integrate more with the security compliances, like this IDSS, etc.""When you implement SolarWinds on a larger scale my customers complain about the speed.""This product has no real downside unless they fail to continue development of its capabilities.""The templates could use improvement. Currently, they are quite complex. They should have drag-and-drop functionality instead. It would make it easier to use.""Support for the IBM Mainframe is needed.""I would like to see support for non-Windows or non-Microsoft domains, especially Apache and other non-Windows servers.""It lacks a user experience for measuring things like the end-to-end time for which a user waits for a specific response in the system. In the application layer, it has some very basic stuff. You have to build your own with manuscripts and things like that.""In terms of the dashboards on offer, they should work to improve them. The types of dashboards that you get in terms of the graphs on offer aren't ideal right now."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"CAD $400,000 annually.""Customers pay for the license and the support."

More DX Infrastructure Manager Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The licenses start from USD 3000.00 and go up to USD 20,000.00 for the year. It's a perpetual license. Nothing is free in SolarWinds, anything that you need is an additional cost.""Pricing is inexpensive, starting at 2440 euros. For that, you get the ability to monitor a couple of nodes and one year of maintenance and support.""I like the pricing for this SolarWinds product.""Price can always be lower. It is neither on the expensive side nor on the cheap side. We have worked with them for a lot of years, so we get a discount due to the size of the installation.""Its licensing is on a yearly basis. It is just the standard price, but it can vary depending on the current rate of the dollar."
