Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution has a longer lifespan.""Storage-wise, EMC is user-friendly.""The most valuable feature is NetWorker's integration with the data domain that transfers the data directly into the Dell appliance, so the data doesn't need to pass through the network. NetWorker acts like a pipe, allowing the data to flow directly from the database or the VMware environment to the data domain.""It is the best umbrella, serving the best applications.""Deduplication is the most valuable feature of this solution.""Data domain is a good feature.""The updated graphical interface is better than it used to be.""The GUI is the best feature. It's very good and easy to use."

"The initial setup for a simple environment is very easy. We just do next, next, next, next for the installation. It can be complicated in a complicated environment. It can be simple for a simple environment. I enjoy installing it. It has a lot of features.""The most valuable feature is how reliable Veeam Backup is. It has the normal expected features that allow you to ensure that everything is backed up completely.""One of the most valuable features is the incremental backup. It is, of course, perfect because you have a lot of restore points, but you don't need all the space. The stability is also perfect.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the recuperation of the weaker machines.""The features that I have found most valuable are its back up and recovery. It is a simplified backup because you can do both databases - VM and HyperV. It's a faster backup than the conventional methods because it takes up the bare metal.""It's simply very good software for backup purposes.""Veeam Backup & Replication is a scalable solution.""Veeam communicates with the vCenter in VMware, which means it's very smooth and doesn't interrupt production on VMware and you can backup or restore anytime, anywhere."

Cons
"When you're working with VMware, you need to use vProxy machines. You have to install the vProxy for every host in the VMware environment.""The configuration is too complex.""The licensing rules are difficult to navigate and understand.""It is not easy to understand and deploy. It is complex in nature. Simplicity is not there. When we deploy it, the customer always needs some training from us. To make it user friendly, there should be one agent that can be used to back up every product. Dell EMC NetWorker uses so many user agents. In PowerProtect Data Manager, you can just install its VM, import that VM into vCenter, and you can start to do backups directly from vCenter. However, in Dell EMC NetWorker, you always need one server, and from that server, you need to initiate all backups. You must know the interface and the CLI. It is not user friendly. It would be a great feature if we can deploy Dell EMC NetWorker on a virtual machine, like Avamar. The additional features that are required in Dell EMC NetWorker are already available in PowerProtect Data Manager and Avamar. Therefore, there is no need to enhance Dell EMC NetWorker. It would be better if they can just rename it to PowerProtect Data Manager or Avamar.""The data storage capabilities should be improved.""It's complex in nature.""The user interface has to be improved""I would like to see encryption included in the next release to encrypt the data that we are backing up."

"The solution requires a lot of bandwidth.""Occasionally, in the course of upgrading one's virtualization platform, the backup can be ruined.""They fixed everything that I was hoping for. It is pretty good. There were a few things in 9.x that I was wishing for, and they came true in version 10. We were looking for retention without having to make a copy job. We're getting ready to migrate m365 to the cloud. I haven't dived into it to make sure, but I wish the m365 backup would integrate into the current console so that we don't have to use two different consoles.""I have used NetBackup. For heavy workloads or if I need consistent backup and restore, I prefer NetBackup over Veeam Backup Replication.""They need to improve their technical side.""The pricing could be improved.""The orchestration feature can be improved. They can improve the virtual machine orchestration to make it similar to VMware. They can also provide an option to automate the backup and recovery and schedule a backup.""They need full cloud integration such that an on-premises backup can be offloaded to the cloud for storage."
