Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The customizable reports and dashboards are really flexible. We started this partnership with Centreon, when we were looking for a solution, because of the flexibility of the reporting. That's what we found to be most attractive in the solution. You can display the data as you want.""The dashboards are valuable because they ease troubleshooting and viewing. It becomes easier to locate the source of a problem... The dashboards make it easier to communicate with our clients. They don't want to see the alert console, they want to see a beautiful dashboard representing their network and their business and to watch it in case something is wrong in their environment.""We have the business activity monitoring, the map, and the MBI modules and they are all very good.""You can concentrate and orchestrate several other solutions from other vendors. You can consolidate those solutions all in one place, then maintain and monitor from that single point. This creates ease of use. It is a very powerful solution from this point of view.""Centreon helps me detect where the problem is quickly. When we resolve a problem quickly, this lowers our overall costs.""The single-pane view provides us a view of all of our network infrastructure, and it is one of the most important tools that we use to see the status of our customers' networks."

"Cisco UCS Manager is overall a good package because it gives a GUI interface and a CLI.""The flexibility and the ease in which the features can be expanded are the solution's most valuable aspects.""I can quickly manage the provisioned servers.""The most valuable features are flexibility and management.""The reporting functionality will give you any report you want.""Technical support has been good so far. We haven't had any issues with them. We're satisfied with the level of service they provide our company.""Ease of management is certainly the most valuable feature in this product."

"Zabbix is quite stable once it is set up. We haven't had any post-setup issues.""It's a flexible solution.""Every new asset placed in the environment can be automatically detected, predicting human failures.""The solution is stable.""We have found that Zabbix is more easy to use than other applications.""We detect problems before the customer does and before it actually happens using the predictive functions in Zabbix.""The most valuable feature is the support for monitoring Cisco switches.""The solution's design has recently changed and it is visually pleasing with more color, for example, there is blue, black, and white."

Cons
"I would like to see more plugins. That is something it needs. There is also room for improvement through dynamic thresholds, or self-discover thresholds. I would also like to see a discovery feature that could map the whole network environment and automatically suggest things.""Centreon is actually missing an easy way to create a trendline for the metrics. Actually it is possible to create it, but you need a good knowledge of math, Centreon, and RRD.""Improvements are needed in the area of cloud monitoring, as that's a newer feature.""Currently, we have to go through all of the different templates and take a look at how the template is configured, and how specific parameters may change across different templates with different precedents, megatons, etc. It's a lot of work and involves trial and error. I wish they could simplify the process.""Opening a ticket on the website of Centreon can be difficult for my colleague, but not for me because my English is good. However, my colleague doesn't speak English well, as our company is in Quebec and our first language is French.""During the initial setup we faced some issues. Part of it was because we had to become more knowledgeable in the solution. There are some gray areas and if you don't know the product well you may have issues. Another part of it was some bugs that we came across, although that's part of every software solution in IT nowadays. But the initial setup could be easier."

More Centreon Cons »

"Its user interface can be improved. It can be more user-friendly.""Cisco UCS Manager is not a scalable solution because once you have 160 blades, it cannot be expanded more.""We have three data centers and if we could manage all three data centers using one interface, it would be great.""The interface and the way it is constructed is very complex. They should work to simplify it. It's quite difficult for somebody who doesn't know the product very well. Users should be able to get proficient with it faster. There's definitely room for improvement there.""I would like to see Cisco UCS optionally work as a hyper-converged system because right now, it only operates as a converged system.""The automation within the solution needs to be simplified.""Upgrading the firmware is a difficult procedure."

More Cisco UCS Manager Cons »

"Implementation is always tailored to the customer and the kind of information we need from the client to carry it out can make them very uncomfortable. Sometimes the clients are not ready to share it.""Outside of the normal standard monitoring, I would like to extend patching, importing patching, and supporting patching for Windows Servers.""If Zabbix had a better dashboard then it would be nice.""Its UI should be improved. They did some improvements in version 5, but it could benefit from some more work. Its integrations should also be improved. They've been active for one year, and they seem to have noticed that. It has new integrations, but it could benefit from more integrations. As far as I know, there is no model to push statistics, metrics, or events towards Zabbix. This type of API isn't yet there, whereas some other tools provide an API for this.""I would like to remotely connect to the computer, and Zabbix doesn't have this capability.""I am having difficulties connecting it to Grafana, as well as some of the other plugins like Kibana.""My company wanted to do an exercise command to access IT from Cameroon. They wanted to access an FSS to a second host with second equipment that was on another coast but it is not possible on Zabbix to do it. They want to directly access from the front-end of Zabbix to access a prompt in Zabbix to an access terminal. In the front-end, there is no way to do that. That would be an important improvement.""The main problem with Zabbix is that you have to spend time writing templates for all of the products that you have."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Centreon is better than Nagios XI in regards to cost and support response times, when you have a problem. If you have a problem, it costs money to contact the Nagios XI support.""The pricing works out well for us, given our environment and where we are.""If you need basic monitoring without dashboards, just monitoring, the plugins are very useful and really cheap. If you want a more complete solution with dashboards and reporting, the EMS solution is great and it is not that much more expensive. It's a good value. Really good.""Their licensing model is really easy. You have one license and you have access to all the features, compared to other tools where you have to purchase add-ons.""Centreon is always available to develop new plugins when needed. The most important thing is that their maintenance account yearly subscription fee includes the fact that they will maintain the new plugins that you requested them to deliver."

Information Not Available
"We purchased Zabbix for a good price, including support""My manager is very happy because it doesn't cost anything.""We are using the free, open-source version.""This solution is completely open-source, so it is quite affordable.""It is open source. If you want to have a subscription or official support, you can pay for it. They have different plans, which are not that expensive. The plans are based on per monitoring server, not per monitored equipment. So, it is not at all expensive, and you can also live without the support if you want a cheaper option.""It is reasonable.""Zabbix is open-source so if one wishes to implement it in-house, they must have qualified professionals to set up and optimize databases, Linux/Unix OS, PHP, Apache, and depending on what is monitored, a full-stack network and systems administrator may be needed.""I was using the free, Community Edition."
