We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The interface is very user-friendly and it is quite easy to use.""Its stability and SD-WAN features are the most valuable.""Scalability is good; the company wants to be able to handle large customers.""Their GPS possibilities and the security that it has, especially the SD-WAN functionality, is very good.""Its ability to block incoming attacks is valuable. Its logging, traffic monitoring, and VPN capabilities are also valuable.""Good identity fire walling, malware protection and application control features.""What I like best about this product are the support and the features.""Ability to manage multiple firewalls."

"The most useful feature for our organization is the combination of on-prem and cloud-based deployments. We connect securely to our hybrid cloud using transit VPCs and cloud on-ramp for fast deployments.""It is very stable with very good firmware.""The first part that we like is that we can reuse certain hardware, which is a valuable asset. You can use hardware SKUs that already exist in the network. The second part that we like is the integration with the cloud and the measurement of the cloud's quality. These are the two values that this solution gives as compared to other implementations that we have seen.""This solution can scale from SMB to the enterprise level. It is very impressive.""There have been no issues with stability.""The product's brand recognition is one of the most valuable aspects of the solution.""From my observations, Cisco has been rolling out new features every other day, so I would say their speed of innovation is one of the most valuable aspects for me.""We would recommend this solution to customers looking to implement it on a global scale. We recommend the solution, not only because of the functionality or the technical support, but also because of the delivery of the solution, and the docking and upgrading capabilities."

Cons
"The interface should be more user-friendly and it should be easier to configure.""The analytics are weak.""The administration UI could be better. It should also have better application detection policies.""If you have another brand of VPN where you have to put an SSL VPN between two devices, Barracuda doesn't support that at a certain point. You can't actually build the VPN between Barracuda and a different device of a different brand.""Technical support used to be at a very high level but it is now a bit less so.""The biggest issue that I have with this solution is that it is not super intuitive. Once you know what to do, things make sense, but you can't just open the program and start doing things. It would be great if there was a little bit more guided usage inside the program.""Command line could be more user friendly.""If you experience an attack it can take a very long time to find a solution."

"It is the best solution that I ever had, but there might be something better than this in the future.""The Cisco way of thinking is to create umbrella-like solutions. I would prefer it if this solution was separate from the entire monstrous Cisco portfolio.""Its license model needs to be improved. They always make the license model too complex. There are too many license models and too many options. They should have a flexible license model. They can improve a lot of things in terms of scalability, templates, and automation, mainly automation for onboarding a number of sites. If you want some new features, it can take quite a long time. If you want a feature and it is not yet developed, you need to have the support of the business units to have the feature developed. If the feature is not on their roadmap, it can take quite some time before you get the feature.""The solution could be more secure. Security is always a priority for us.""Better pricing and greater security would be nice to see.""What I find should be improved is the possibility of really separating the software layer from the hardware layer since today the current offer is not well adopted by the service providers""The process of onboarding the vSmart, vBond, and vManage should be improved to make it easier to manage in general.""We don't have any issues with this solution other than the price."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Its licensing is on a yearly basis. There is an upfront purchase price, and there is also an annual maintenance fee. There are no additional fees.""The 600 series is about USD $10,000 a year and the 80 is USD $400 a year.""The solution costs more than 800 Euros to purchase an F18, which is an entry model, and then another 500 Euros for instant replacement, and 500 Euros for energized updates. The total package would be around 1,900 Euros for five years license and all updates for an entry model."

"In the Russian market where we operate, this solution is expensive.""There is no license required for this solution.""The price of the solution is the only negative factor, it is much more expensive compared with the Cisco Meraki SD-WAN solution.""Cisco's pricing is not entirely satisfactory when you compare the SD-WAN solutions in Asian markets — like the South Asian market in Sri Lanka — because there are several competing brands including Fortinet and Citrix, who provide much the same product for a generally lower price. And when it comes to firewall vendors like Palo Alto and SonicWall, they're also selling here. It's the same with VMware, too; they have much the same features.""It is much cheaper than other solutions. Most of our clients are the top 500 companies, and they all have a corporate contract.""Cloud subscription management must be paid for, although this does not incur a perpetual fee.""The costs are a bit on the high side.""It is expensive. The license limitation is there in terms of bandwidth. Basically, Cisco is always good in terms of performance and related things. However, if you want to have a license, for example, for 100 Mbps, they charge you because of their 100 Mbps. If you want to go without the license of 300 Mbps, it is a bandwidth license as well. This is not happening with other vendors. That is the reason why we moved away from Cisco. The bill gets a little bit high. I do remember that one time we were trying to increase the bandwidth for at least five devices, and the license got as high as 20-grand for five devices, only for the license. It was expensive for us at the time. Our company is not a big company, but it is a solid company. The price was very high, and we moved away from Cisco because of the price."
