Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
"This solution is used as the basic requirement for any virtual machines use cases, the storage is used for each use case.""The features with Amazon AWS that I have found most valuable are its flexibility and high availability. These are the most important and attractive points for me.""It is quite easy to provision new virtual services for our use. The procedures are quite straightforward and simple as compared to other competitors, such as Microsoft or Huawei. This is what we are happy about with Amazon AWS. It is pretty mature in terms of the availability of most of the infrastructure components. If you want to deploy a server on your platform, everything is already there in terms of the operating system, network components, securities, and data encryption. It is also quite scalable and stable.""The initial setup is simple and straightforward.""It has a dynamic scaling capacity which is very helpful.""Amazon AWS is easy to use and in the past two years, I've never had any issues with scalability or stability.""The price forecasting and billing dashboard by service, with billing budgets and alerts, have helped us shut down resources that were accruing costs that we no longer needed, saving us money.""The most valuable features I have found are the Database Migration Service (DMS) for monitoring the host and routing, Route 53, and EC2 tools. The DMS is not available in any other solution that I am aware of. They have a very flexible and professional solution."

"The solution is stable and we have never had a problem. We started with one terabyte of data when the solution was first implemented and today we have around almost 600 gigabytes of data, which means means the compression works properly. Before migrating from ECC, we had nine terabytes of data.""There's a minimum amount of downtime when using the solution. This platform is very effective.""The most valuable feature is virtual modeling, which is beneficial because you don't really save the data multiple times the way we did in the past.""One of the features that I've found most useful is that It's very simple. They take care of the technical aspects of the data, installations, patches.""The solution does provide quite a lot of support, upgrades, automated batch updates, etc."

"The pricing could be more competitive.""I would appreciate more direct support from AWS.""They have a low code platform, but it is for intervention.""One thing that Azure offers that I think is good is Migrate appliance. So, Azure has a migrate appliance that allows you to run against workloads to determine the cost, preparedness, and scalability. I haven't found a similar feature in AWS. That kind of service would be great on AWS too if you could point it to the data center.""The initial setup was very complex.""The solution could always be further improved on the commercial side of things. Amazon Web Services are not cheap. It would be ideal if it was less expensive for the customer.""The security right now needs improvement. It's not bad, per se. It's just that there's always room for improvement in security.""I'm not an expert on the product, but if I had to suggest one improvement, I know a feature that would allow a person to backup his on-premise solution to the cloud directly with one click would be useful. This solution should be agnostic because sometimes a product that was backed up with Veeam is highly compatible with Commvault. I think it would be better if these backup features were agnostic. Viewing a build could also be improved. It's not easy to follow up on your consumption and see how much you're paying and how much you will be paying. Viewing the build could be more clear."

"The solution is scalable from an infrastructure point of view. However, it becomes more complex over time because technology is changing so fast.""The customer has a lot of dependencies on SAP which means they don't have much flexibility to go and update the system when or if they need to. They will need to wait for the quarterly updates. It's possible to maybe raise a special request with SAP if it is absolutely necessary.""This product is not mature enough at this point in time.""Our data centers are in Europe and come under GDPR regulations, and this doesn't apply to the Middle East yet. It causes a lot of confusion.""They should probably offer more cloud services. Most of the cloud infrastructure providers we have make everything pretty transparent, you know what you're getting, you have all these metrics and measurements and everything in the dashboard. Here you have to go through the contracting negotiations and all those things."

  • "I find that Amazon AWS is expensive."
  • "The Oracle licensing is higher than it is with Amazon AWS."
  • "I think they've done a pretty good job with their pricing."

  • "The price could be lower."
  • "There are many variables involved in pricing service in AWS and overall the pricing is a bit on the higher side."
  • "AWS is not an expensive product."

  • "If you choose the minimum, it will probably cost around $1,000 USD per month if you take a contract for a year or two."
  • "The licensing of the solution is on a yearly basis. The normal price of the solution is quite high, but I received a special discount by making a purchase near the end of the year."

Amazon Web Services (AWS), is a collection of cloud computing services, also called web services, that make up a cloud-computing platform offered by Amazon.com. These services operate from 12 geographical regions across the world. The most central and well-known of these services arguably include Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, also known as "EC2", and Amazon Simple Storage Service, also known as "S3". Amazon markets AWS as a service to provide large computing capacity more quickly and more cheaply than a client company building an actual physical server farm.
